How-to: The Dreaded Semi-colon

I don't know about you, but I have an intense dislike for the semi-colon. While I've always managed to get along with most other grammar rules (ironically enough, I learned English grammar while taking foreign language classes), the semi-colon has always evaded my comprehension.

Luckily for me, there is lifehack.org and Michael Leddy, ready with 5 quick rules for improving my punctuation skills. Rules 1-4 concentrate on the comma, but #5 covers the devilish semi-colon. This is so much better than reading (while simultaneously staying awake) a grammar book.

Now I have even more basis for the editing choices I make on my husband's writing. Whoo hoo! Now, where's my red pen?
